Our Mission

To deliver cardiac and neurological care of the highest international standard, in-country, for every patient in Ethiopia and East Africa who needs it.

Lafto Hospital is built on the belief that clinical excellence is not a function of geography. By establishing the region's most advanced Cardiac and Neuro Center of Excellence alongside comprehensive general medical services, this facility redefines the standard of care available within Ethiopia.

Developed as a 20-year public-private partnership with the Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau, the hospital is backed by a U.S. board-certified expert network drawn from leading academic medical centers, and equipped with an enterprise health information system and AI-first radiology platform from Day 1 of operations.

Specialist Access · Remote

Second Opinion &
Virtual Consultation.

A structured, fee-based pathway to a documented specialist opinion from the Lafto Hospital specialist network — without travel. Submitted cases are reviewed by a clinical coordinator for completeness and suitability before a consultation is scheduled. This is a paid clinical service; it is not a walk-in or free enquiry channel, and every request is subject to eligibility review before any fee is taken.

Paid Service · Case Review Required Before Scheduling
Not for Emergencies
This service is intended for non-urgent specialist opinions. If you or the patient are experiencing chest pain, sudden weakness or facial droop, difficulty speaking, loss of consciousness, or any acute deterioration, contact local emergency services immediately. A remote second opinion does not replace urgent in-person assessment, and a virtual consultation cannot be used to manage an active medical emergency.

Consultation Tiers

Fees are professional charges for the reviewing specialist's time and are quoted per case. The applicable tier is confirmed after the clinical coordinator has reviewed the submitted records and accepted the case. Fees are payable once the case is accepted and a slot is offered.

Tier 1 · Asynchronous
Written Specialist Second Opinion
Fee quoted on acceptance
Written report within 5 working days of a complete submission
A specialist reviews the submitted history, imaging, and diagnostics and returns a structured written opinion addressing your specific clinical question.
  • A specialist in the relevant discipline
  • Structured written report
  • Review of records and imaging provided
  • No live video session included
Tier 3 · Panel
Multidisciplinary Panel Review
Fee quoted on acceptance
Coordinated panel; report within 7–10 working days
Complex cases reviewed by a multidisciplinary panel, producing a consensus opinion and suggested management options for the treating team.
  • Multiple specialists across disciplines
  • Consensus written opinion
  • Suited to complex or surgical cases
  • Optional live panel summary call

How It Works

Each request passes through review before any consultation is confirmed. Incomplete submissions cannot be scheduled.

Step 01
Submit Your Request
Complete the registration form below, selecting “Second Opinion / Virtual Consultation Request,” and provide the required patient information and records listed alongside.
Step 02
Triage & Eligibility Review
A clinical coordinator checks that the records are complete, that the question is suitable for a remote opinion, and confirms identity and consent. Cases that are urgent, out of scope, or incomplete are declined or returned for more information — no fee is charged at this stage.
Step 03
Tier Confirmation & Payment
Once a case is accepted, the applicable tier and fee are confirmed in writing and a consultation slot is offered. Payment is taken securely before the session or written opinion is delivered.
Step 04
Opinion Delivered
You receive the written opinion or attend the scheduled video session. Final treatment decisions and any prescriptions remain the responsibility of the patient’s treating physician; this service does not issue cross-border prescriptions or take over ongoing care.

What You’ll Need to Provide

To register a request, the following is required up front. Cases cannot be triaged until the patient details, the clinical question, and at least the relevant recent records are received.

Patient & Contact Details
  • Full name, date of birth, and sex
  • Country of residence and contact email / phone
  • Government photo ID for identity verification
  • Relationship of the person submitting, if not the patient
Clinical Question
  • The specific question you want answered
  • Current working diagnosis, if known
  • Referring physician name and contact, where applicable
Medical Records & Investigations
  • Recent clinic letters or discharge summaries
  • Current medication list
  • Relevant laboratory results
  • Relevant diagnostic and test reports (e.g. ECG, echocardiography, pathology)
  • Imaging reports and source files — e.g. X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound (DICOM preferred)
Consent
  • Signed consent for remote clinical review
  • Agreement to the service terms and fee on acceptance
Request a Second Opinion

Selecting this option routes your request to the clinical coordination team for review. You will not be charged until your case is accepted and a tier is confirmed.
